Paytm, India’s leading payments and financial services company, has introduced UPI international payments, allowing Indian travelers to make seamless, cashless transactions at select global destinations. Users can now pay via their Paytm UPI app in the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal, enhancing convenience for shopping, dining, and local experiences abroad.
Setting up UPI international on the Paytm app is quick, requiring a one-time activation linked to the user’s bank account. When scanning a UPI-enabled QR code overseas, the app will prompt activation, ensuring easy access. Users can select a validity period from 1 to 90 days and deactivate the service anytime, offering enhanced security and control over transactions. The app also provides full transparency by displaying real-time foreign exchange rates and applicable conversion fees before completing payments.
With this launch, Paytm empowers Indian travelers to enjoy cashless payments at global hotspots, from vibrant markets in Dubai and Singapore to cultural shopping venues in Bhutan and Nepal. A Paytm spokesperson stated, “As pioneers in mobile payments, we’re excited to extend UPI International, ensuring secure and convenient transactions for Indian travelers. This expansion reaffirms our commitment to leveraging technology that empowers our users worldwide.”
